Why Richard

An operator's perspective, with a coach's discipline.

My coaching is shaped by nearly two decades inside complex organizations. I've worked across financial services, technology, education, law, and health care, including as a strategic HR partner to senior executives at Salesforce. That experience gives me a practical feel for how talent decisions, reorganizations, and executive relationships actually unfold, and the analytical habits to cut through the noise around them.

Who I work with

Leaders at the moments that matter most.

The promotion. The reorganization. The consequential decision. The conversation you can't delegate. The question of what comes next.

The work

What leaders bring to the work.

  1. Stepping into a larger role before you feel fully ready
  2. Leading through a reorganization, rapid growth, or uncertainty
  3. Making a consequential decision when there is no obvious answer
  4. Building trust and influence with peers, teams, and boards
  5. Developing executive presence without becoming someone you're not
  6. Deciding what comes next, professionally and personally

The approach

A thought partner, not another playbook.

The best coaching doesn't hand you somebody else's answer. It helps you see the situation more clearly, test your assumptions, and make decisions you can stand behind.

My work is grounded in Co-Active coaching and informed by years inside complex organizations alongside senior leaders. I'll ask the questions others may not, challenge you when it serves the work, share what I've seen when it's useful, and help you move from insight to action.

  • Human insight

Co-Active training in deep listening and incisive questions, so we get to what's really going on, not just the problem you walked in with.

  • Analytical rigor

My career started in financial analysis on Wall Street, and it shows. I bring structure to messy situations: clear goals, honest evidence, and a way to see whether change is actually taking hold.

  • Operator perspective

I understand org dynamics, talent decisions, and executive relationships from the inside. When my experience can help you see around a corner, I'll say so directly.

Ways to work together

Shaped around the moment you're in.

Every engagement is tailored after our first conversation. These are the most common starting points.

How we begin

  1. Step one

    A confidential conversation

We talk about what you're facing and whether this is the right fit. If it isn't, I'll tell you, and point you toward what might serve you better.

  2. Step two

    Defining what success looks like

We set goals in concrete, observable terms, and when it helps, gather perspective from the people who see you lead every day.

  3. Step three

    Progress you can see.

Regular sessions with periodic check-ins against the goals we set, so progress is something we can see, not just feel.

See what's really happening. Decide what to do about it.

The belief behind the work

About Richard

I've spent my career beside leaders in the moments that define them.

For nearly two decades, I've worked inside the rooms where leadership gets difficult: promotions, reorganizations, executive transitions, and talent decisions with no perfect answer. Most recently, I served as a strategic HR partner to EVP and SVP leaders at Salesforce, supporting organizations of more than 1,000 people.

I started my career in financial analysis, which still shapes how I coach: look for the pattern beneath the story, separate signal from noise, and get clear on what the facts actually say. Since then, I've worked across law, higher education, health care, and technology, including building HR from the ground up as the first HR hire at a national employment law firm.

I've completed Co-Active coach training with CTI, hold the PHR certification, and am a proud graduate of Morehouse College. I'm based in Dallas-Fort Worth and work with leaders wherever they are.
